Job Description:
Regeneron seeks a highly motivated and creative molecular
biologist to join our VelociGene team. This is an excellent
opportunity for a Principal Scientist to work closely with key
research and production groups in order to create best-in-class
preclinical models and to innovate on key aspects of our pipeline,
with a special focus on long-read sequencing platforms that will
enable us to investigate the role of structural variation and
genome integrity. As a Principal Scientist, a typical day might
include the following: Work with VelociGene and Regeneron
colleagues to develop, implement, and innovate on molecular biology
techniques, focusing on long-read sequencing platforms. Optimize
wet lab molecular biology techniques including high-quality nucleic
acid extraction from various tissues and cells, library
preparation, and process improvement. Perform robust data quality
control and cross-validation. Assist collaborators and the team in
designing, implementing, and validating novel algorithms to support
various projects including but not limited to DNA structural
variation and genome integrity studies. Develop additional
expertise in various quantitative and qualitative methods to
analyze nucleic acid composition and structure (e.g.
microsatellites) as well as single-cell sequencing. Independently
create and execute scientifically sound experimental plans using
realistic and achievable project timelines and goals. Present
results to management and at cross-group meetings. Contribute
toward writing protocols and best practices in order to standardize
established workflows and to collaborate toward database solutions.
Use scientific literature to develop scientific arguments for
project justifications, investigation conclusions, new technology,
and process improvement ideas. Stay at the leading edge of models
development and related technologies by attending relevant
conferences and trainings. This role might be for you if: You
possess deep knowledge in NGS and long-read sequencing methods
development, using genomic DNA from various sources. You are
experienced in bioinformatics (particularly scripting in Python and
command line); large dataset analyses experience would be a bonus.
You are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and
collaborative environment. You are self-disciplined and proactive
in your approach to meeting established projects goals and
deadlines. You are detail-oriented, creative, and eager to learn
and to implement new ideas and techniques. You have excellent
verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication
skills. To be considered for a Principal Scientist role, you must
have a M.Sc. or a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Chemistry,
Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related field, and 5 years of
relevant experience (w/Ph.D.) or 8 years of relevant experience
(w/M.Sc.) preferably in the biotech industry. Does this sound like
you? Apply now to take your first step towards living the Regeneron
Way! We have an inclusive and diverse culture that provides
comprehensive benefits, which often include (depending on location)
health and wellness programs, fitness centers, equity awards,
annual bonuses, and paid time off for eligible employees at all
