Job Description
Naval Nuclear Laboratory has internship opportunities for college
students to spend the summer of 2025 getting great work experience,
in great locations, supporting the world's greatest Navy.
Calling all Civil/Structural Engineering students! Did you know
that every U.S. Navy Sailor in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
is certified on an operating nuclear prototype before deployment to
the fleet? At the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Kenneth A. Kesselring
Site, we are proud to support the U.S. Navy by operating one of the
nuclear prototype training sites to qualify Sailors and test new
technologies. The success of our mission here at NNL relies heavily
on a strong foundation of facility infrastructure and system
design, construction, and execution management to maintain and
improve site operations. On our team, you'll have the opportunity
to bring your knowledge and experience to take on exciting
challenges building new (or redesigning current) facilities and
systems that support our mission. This opportunity requires
innovative approaches to maintain the reliability of critical
infrastructure to ensure that our facilities and systems operate to

The NNL Internship is an approximate 10-12 week program starting in
May/June 2025.
An internship position may result in a return internship or
full-time employment offer upon successful completion of the
program.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Candidates for Civil/Structural internship positions must be:
Pursuing Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related BS,
MS or PhD degrees from an accredited college or university
Must have completed at least first full year of college by May
2025
Enrolled/continuing in a degree program throughout this
internship
Students must attach most recent unofficial college transcripts and
resume to the employment application.
Preferred Skills
Cumulative minimum GPA 3.0/4.0
Prior related internship, co-op or work experience (paid or
volunteer)
Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD) or Naval
Nuclear Program experience
Compensation and Benefits
NNL offers an outstanding Compensation and Benefits package for

Flexible work schedules and 9/80 work schedule option (every other

Stipend for qualified applicants (school and home address must be
> 50 miles from assigned work location)
Pay Range
$23-$41 per hour

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned
subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel
are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic
Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S.
Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.
