Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Cider Maker is responsible for all aspects of
cider-making at our local facility in accordance with Boston Beer
Company and Angry Orchard Cider Company safety, sanitation and
quality standards at our cidery in Walden, NY. Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to, ensuring safe and sanitary working
conditions, daily planning, management, and execution of all cider
making functions, leading change and process improvement efforts,
as well as work collaboratively with The Head Cidermaker to build
out innovative recipe design and trial work. The Cider Maker will
also work very closely with the FOH to provide cider that meets the
need of the taproom and its range of drinkers, support in
education, vision, and guest interaction as needed. You will also
support sales activities such as cider dinners and account calls
and participate with the National Brand innovation as needed and
under the direction of the Head Cider Maker.What You'll
Brew:----Responsible for the daily execution of all cider making
related tasks, this includes raw material management, apple & fruit
processing, fermentation, aging, cold processing, packaging, and
maintenance of utilities and equipment that support the cellarClear
ownership of production scheduling, including management of
cellar/lab staff and physically processing cider as necessary to
support productionStandardize all cider processing steps by
implementing an enhanced training and SOP programCommunication and
collaboration with Angry Orchard quality personnel, BBC corporate
QA staff and Maintenance Manager to ensure production
excellenceRoutine and open communication with working groups (GM,
HCM, Ops, design and FHO)Owner and creator of annual cider
production calendar in conjunction with GM and taproom needs.
Responsible for relaying that information to other departments for
effective creation of state and TTB registration, labels and copy,
and packaging specs for upcoming releasesCreation of innovative
cider recipes and processes; including identification and
evaluation of new ingredients, apple and juice varieties,
development of our barrel aging and Walden cider collection
programs, etc.Working with The Head Cider Maker to discover
exciting and new opportunities within the food and drink industry
to elevate Angry Orchard craft and quality credentialsClear
understanding and support of that core responsibilities are to the
brand as a visitor touch-point and delivering quality message of
the entire Angry Orchard and BBC umbrellaSupport transition of
Angry Orchard NY recipes to Innovation Team, Angry Orchard Brand,
and/or production breweries as requested by The Head Cider
MakerManage trial activity within Angry Orchard nano fermentation
programSupport Head Cider Maker as needed with local interviews,
meet the maker, local cider events etc. Media training will be
providedDevelop sensory panel program for local Angry Orchard NY
staff, including PT coworkers, to educate on sensory and quality
awareness. Dispatch of samples to other BBC locations as
necessaryInventory management; including raw material ordering,
receiving, storage and organization of storage of unfinished goods
onsiteInventory management of all tanks and in process ciderProper
cleaning and organization of all cider making and processing
equipment, upkeep of general sanitation, and proper house-keeping
of lab and cider process areas in accordance with GMP'sThis
includes visual upkeep of the pressing and tank areas maintaining
for overhead tour execution.Maintenance and cleanliness of
turn-around area, loading dock, barrel storage, and other
facilities where cidermaking or storage take placeManage
SAP-related transactions including Cider production and packaging
goods, ingredient and materials inventory and purchasing of all
Angry Orchard related materials orders necessary for the
siteMonthly Inventory reporting to Boston and TTBLeading, coaching
and mentoring of all Cidery production staff, and tour staff, as
neededSafe chemical handling and inventory managementEnsuring BBC
Safety Procedures are followed and OSHA complianceSupport CCP
training as neededSupport market and brand request: festivals,
cider dinners, wholesaler trainings, orchard events, tours and
tastingsWork with Head Cider Maker and GM to ensure cidery presents
as an interesting educational tour and support activities such as
apple pressing during key tour periodsSupport tour center
activities to promote attendance through events, special ciders etc
as neededDemonstrated leadership abilities, preferably in a
manufacturing environmentProven ability to prioritize and make
knowledgeable decisions in a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic

commercial cider making, winemaking, or brewing experienceSome
experience in a small cider or winery, including exposure that
scale to fruit selection, crush, fermentation, barrel aging, winery
