OB Surgical Technologist - Family Birthing Center/Delivery
- High School Diploma and minimum of one year job-related
- Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) or LPN license
w/previous scrub experience
- BLS for Healthcare Providers.
The OB Surgical Technologist assists the professional nurse in
performing direct and indirect patient care activities and works
under the direction and supervision of the Registered
Hours: 24 control hours
Shift: Variable three 8 hour shifts between 7 am to 7:30 pm
Monday - Friday.
Provides technical assistance in the services provided during
the labor and delivery stages of the obstetrical process and
performs surgical scrub duties for OB related cases.
Facilitates turnover of operating rooms and delivery rooms.
Requires critical thinking skill, decisive judgment and the ability
to work with minimal supervision.
Capable to work in an ever-changing environment and respond
appropriately to complex situations.
May perform clerical/other duties as assigned.

program, certified within 12 months of hire, or LPN license with
prior surgical tech experience in an OB setting.

- Consistently demonstrates and applies principles of aseptic
practice as defined in AORN recommended practices.
- Understands the preparation and specific use of all equipment
and supplies used for vaginal and cesarean delivery.
- Participates in "times-outs" prior to the start of the surgical
procedure according to hospital policy guidelines. Verifies
medications, concentrations, expiration dates of all medications
received on the sterile field in concert with the circulating
- Handles all "sharps" in a safe and protective manner in
consideration of self and others in supportive roles, such as, core
techs, environmental services, and CPD staff.
