The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted

The Senior Firmware Test Engineer will have extensive experience
in verifying high speed, complex programmable logic designs
deployed in CPLDs, FPGAs and SoC platforms. The candidate will have
an extensive background verifying VHDL for digital electronic
systems via VHDL code analysis, timing analysis and test bench
simulations. This engineer will be working in a small, synergistic
project team giving each team member the opportunity to make
significant contributions to the team’s efforts and to gain a great
sense of achievement. Engineers contribute through individual
implementation efforts and see the results of their accomplishments
through completion of the verification phase. Candidate must be an
energetic, highly motivated individual with the ability to work off
shift and weekend hours when testing is in progress if needed.
Perform requirements review ensuring that firmware meets those
Significant FPGA development experience in VHDL, particularly
test bench designs.
Review existing VHDL designs for CPLD’s, FPGA’s and SoC devices
and perform a guideline-based code inspection.
Collaborate with FPGA designers to ensure successful
Validate system performance using gate level analysis and
assertion-based verification (ABV).
Generate complete test documentation in order to effectively
communicate the verification approach and/or results to our
internal and external customers.
Job Responsibilities Part II Provide guidance, direction, and
mentorship to less experienced design verification engineers in
order to increase our design verification expertise base within the
organization with an emphasis on a more flexible and robust
Communicate with the customer and internal management as a
technical expert in order to achieve cost effective, technically
compliant best in class firmware verification solutions.
Provide schedule and technical compliance updates to
Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values
and culture of the organization.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related
technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years
of experience in firmware design/test
Competent technical expertise and application domain
Candidates with knowledge of Mentor Graphics, Questa Sim, System
Verilog (for verification) and standard verification methodologies
(i.e. OVM, UVM) are strongly preferred.
Ability to work independently
Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Strong inter-personal and communication skills to aid
communications within the engineering community.
Technical, self-motivated leader who is action-oriented, with
the ability to apply problem solving skills and sound judgment to
Familiarity with military specifications (particularly E470A51)
and military design experience is desired.
Ability and willingness for infrequent travel, including air
travel, if required.

Xilinx Zynq 7000 SOC products with dual ARM® CortexTM A9

Altera® SoC Embedded Design Suite

Candidates should be familiar with several of the following
technologies and platforms: Actel / Microsemi SmartFusion SoC FPGA,
Altera Quartus II Development Tool
Actel/Microsemi Libero IDE and SoC Development Tools
