The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world.

Job Summary

The candidate hired for this position will be part of the Continuing Engineering department, working closely with manufacturing and production test personnel in the definition and resolution of production related anomalies for our spares and repairs area of focus. This engineer will be responsible for the development of proposals, contracts review, and engineering production support. In this role, it is expected that this engineer will be able to make minor changes to design documentation (schematics, assembly drawings, etc.) as well as production Acceptance Test Procedures and assist in the troubleshooting of production product and equipment returned for evaluation and repair. Finally, this engineer will be responsible for evaluating the anomalies found for trends that can be flowed back to design engineering as lessons learned for product improvements.

Job Responsibilities

Provide engineering estimates during the bid and proposal phase of spares procurement

Provide contract review prior to acceptance of customer spares orders

Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with existing products and make modifications and improvements as needed.

Monitor production environments for technical issues from internal and external sources

Analyze issues to determine root cause and take necessary steps to troubleshoot and implement corrective action for the issue

Coordinate and track the resolution of production related issues across multiple engineering functions

Ability to plan and schedule the completion of multiple conflicting priorities

Provide obsolescence management for legacy analog systems, including the selection and justification of alternate/substitute components

Validate system performance using analysis, simulation, and/or laboratory testing.

Lead efforts to develop and implement corrective action to product problems identified.

Communicate with the customer and internal management as a technical expert in order to achieve cost effective, technically compliant solutions.

Provide schedule, and technical compliance updates to management in order to effectively manage the execution of tasks.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Hardware/Test development

Fluency in technologies and application domain

Ability to lead a technical group independently

Strong written and verbal communications are needed skills for the position.

Proficiency with Microsoft® Office tools including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint

Proven design and troubleshooting skills in a product development environment

Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional design teams.

Strong inter-personal and communication skills to aid communications within the engineering community

Technical, self-motivated leader who is action-oriented, with the ability to apply problem solving skills and sound judgment to complex issues.

Familiarity with military specifications and military design experience is desired

Ability and willingness for travel, including air travel. Estimate 5% domestic travel

Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
