911 Mobile Mental Health Clinician-Per Diem

Company: Access-Supports for Living
Location: Ellenville
Posted on: September 22, 2022

Job Description:

Location: Kingston, NY and Ellenville, NY (Ulster County)
Hours: Per-Diem
Rate of Pay: $28 (LMSW) or $30 (LCSW or LMHC) We are seeking a per-diem Mental Health Clinician to join our dynamic team that is passionate and excited about alternatives to crisis response. Nationwide, cities across the country are implementing new programs in an effort to support diversion from law enforcement responses, hospitals, and the overall criminal justice system. Historically, 911 calls made from or about persons in emotional distress have resulted in the dispatch of law enforcement officers. Now, efforts to divert 911 calls from the police have increased and have re-focused their concentration on providing responses that allow trained mental health professionals to assess and connect people to community based services. It has been observed that re-routing calls to alternative agencies results in more optimal and efficient responses. The 911 clinician we are seeking is required to have a LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW license, and either an interest or experience in working in areas of emergency services. This clinician is also required to have experience working with those affected by substance use and crisis services in behavioral health settings. The 911 clinician will perform on-site duties at the Ulster County 911 Dispatch Center by answering transferred psychiatric and mental health calls that 911 receives, and will provide telephonic crisis counseling and assessment, safety planning, and triage. This clinician will also track the Ulster County Mobile Mental Health teams and dispatch either them, law enforcement, and/or emergency medical services as clinically appropriate and needed. The Clinician will: Triage in-coming 911 diversion calls that have been transferred from 911 dispatch
Provide telephonic crisis counseling, assessment, safety planning, and connection to appropriate services
Provide OUD assessment/connection to appropriate level of care as needed
Determine if law enforcement co-responses are required
Establish a plan for the Mobile Mental Health teams response based upon location of client and location/availability of team(s)
Support the Mobile Mental Health hospital and police diversion efforts to ensure connection to mental health/substance use treatment in the community and reduce unnecessary ER visits and law enforcement responses
Be knowledgeable about Ulster County resources with particular knowledge of the services of the Agency to include knowledge of MOUD
Work in compliance with the Mobile Mental Health team, Access Agency, Emergency Services, Police Departments, and regulatory procedural guidelines
Be responsible for assisting with additional data collection, administrative tasks, and possible on-site training of dispatchers as needed
