Department: MCORT-2: 988 Mobile Crisis Outreach Response Team THIS IS AN IN-PERSON AND IN-COMMUNITY POSTION Salary: $27.00 per hour *Per Diem Position* Location: 282 East Main Street, Somerville, NJ 08876 Serving Warren/Hunterdon/Somerset County Work hours: Open to first shift (7am-3pm) 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) OR 3rd shift (11pm-7am) Position Overview: The Per Diem Crisis Intervention Specialist, a bachelor’s level behavioral health professional, is responsible for assessing each crisis outreach situation attended and deciding if additional psychological, psychiatric, or clinical services are needed. If so, the Crisis Intervention Specialist will consult with the Masters-Level Supervisor via remote connection for supervision and direction. Essential Job Functions: Create and maintain a wellness and recovery-oriented environment by using person-first language,respectful documentation, and person-centered planning. All services provided will promote wellness andrecovery outcomes with positive outcomes for persons receiving MCORT services. A culture of compliance with internal and external policies, regulations, laws, and high ethical standards. Coordinate outreach service with the Peer Support Specialist to ensure that the person in crisis is alwaysattended to and engaging in the crisis intervention service. Communicates with the 988 entity in provision of MCORT dispatch as necessary per the dispatch system. Utilize assessment tools and skills to assess the environment and the person in crisis for mental healthand/or substance use targeted crisis intervention and referral to ongoing community services. Work with the person, the Peer Support Specialist and, as necessary, the Master’s Level Supervisor inproviding the most appropriate crisis intervention service. Incorporates evidence-based crisis intervention practices when interacting with the person in crisis. Provides person centered crisis intervention planning to include de-escalation, cognitive behavioralinterventions the person can employ when not with service providers, warm handoff to communityservices as needed, plan for follow-up call to ensure engagement of the person to the community serviceprovider and satisfaction of the MCORT service survey. Provides referrals to community provider services and warm handoffs as needed based on the person-centered crisis intervention plan. Ensure each person receives the person-centered crisis intervention plan to support the engagement tocommunity MH and/or SUD services, plan for follow up calls from MCORT to track status/engagementwith community provider, and satisfaction survey. Ensure all documentation is timely and within the policy and standards set by the 988 entity, DMHAS andBridgeway. Documentation to include all aspects of service for each dispatch in a database determinedby DMHAS. Ensure that mobile crisis outreach response take place in-person anywhere in the region within one hour,on average, of dispatch and that the two-person team attend to at least 2 mobile crisis outreachresponses in each scheduled 8-hour shift. Mobile outreach responses are expected to respond withoutlaw enforcement accompaniment whenever it has been deemed safe by the 988 Lifeline crisis center. Insituations in which it is determined that the person may need to be hospitalized, the local PESS will becontacted to provide an assessment (this will be in coordination with the master’s level supervisor). If it isdetermined that law enforcement/EMS are needed, policies and procedures identified by DMHAS will befollowed which include contacting 911 dispatch emergency services-this may be in coordination with the988 entity. Collaborate with family and/or significant others to assist and support persons in crisis on an as-neededbasis. Maintain positive relationships with relevant community partners, including but not limited to medical andbehavioral health providers. Other Skills/Abilities: • Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills specific to MH and SUD crisis intervention, suicide trained/Zero Suicide, assessment, and skill in communicating crisis situations to remote team members to support crisis intervention planning. Requirements: Education/Certifications: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a mental health related field (psychology, social work, counseling, etc.) required • Two-year post BA/BS professional experience in the MH field. Experience in a crisis setting preferred.
