Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a
qualified Psych RN in Bronx, New York, 10456! Job Title: Registered
Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Psychiatric Unit
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 34.5
hours per week Experience: 1 year of psychiatric experience
required License: Valid RN License required Certifications: BLS
ACLS PALS One of the following certifications is required before
starting: Handle with Care TRUST Training CPI - Crisis Prevention
Institute PMCS - Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations MOAB -
Management of Aggressive Behavior Must-Have: 1 year of psychiatric
experience Description: Department focused on psychiatric care for
adults aged 18 and older. Patient population includes individuals
diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective
disorder, drug-induced psychosis, major depressive disorder, and
substance abuse. The unit has 26 beds with a typical staffing ratio
of 4 RNs and 4 PCTs during the day and 3 RNs and 3 PCTs at night.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:6-7. Charge nurse role is available
24/7; no travelers allowed in charge role. Physical restraints,
when necessary, will be covered during orientation. Patient care
technicians (PCTs) are responsible for performing safety checks,
room checks, vital signs, weights, activities of daily living, and
observing patient care. RNs will monitor patient conditions and
provide care as needed. Emergency situations are managed with
overhead announcements to alert the staff. Unit is secured with
plexiglass windows; no dedicated security within the unit, but
emergency support is available. Weekend and holiday work is
required with flexible scheduling. Travelers are expected to stay
flexible and fill gaps in staffing. Additional orientation on units
that travelers may float to is also required. Teamwork and
effective communication among staff are essential for maintaining a
safe environment for both staff and patients. Constructive feedback
