patients:This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding
advanced practice neurosurgery team. The Position:
- Makes daily rounds on neurosurgical patients on the floors and
in the ICU
- Evaluation of pre and postoperative neurosurgical patients and
implements appropriate management
- Interprets laboratory and diagnostic test results
- Documents daily notes (H&P, operative notes, progress
notes, consults, etc)
- Prescribes medications and treatment modalities as
indicated
- Works closely with the trauma team in the evaluation and
management of patients with traumatic brain and spine injuries
- Collaborates with attending physicians, residents, nursing
staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of
patient care
- Coordinates discharge process for the neurosurgical patients,
including prescriptions, outpatient referrals, educated patients of
the necessary post-discharge care instructions
- Opportunity to assist in OR
- Ability to participate in the monthly Neurosurgery and Trauma
M&M conferences
- Is part of a growing service that will require flexibility
within the schedule and may include rotational shifts in the
futureRequirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, required. Graduate of an accredited
(Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs
ARC-PA) program, required.
- Current Connecticut license to practice as a Physician
Assistant (PA)
- Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the
Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required.
- Current BLS certification, required.
- Experience preferred. Will consider new graduates with a
demonstrated interest in the field of neurology.We are proud to
