Organization and Position SummaryShrub Oak International School
(SOIS) is a world-class, private, special education boarding and
day school preparing students on the Autism Spectrum to lead more
independent and meaningful lives. We serve the sophisticated needs
of a domestic and -international co-ed population. -Our innovative
relationship-based model grounded in evidence-based principles
builds on students' strengths and interests, maximizing therapeutic
and learning opportunities. Our renowned experts work with students
to individualize life and development paths based on each student's
specific needs and interests. Each student's team of clinicians,
teachers, and campus- life staff collaborate closely to address the
student's issues quickly and reinforce therapies and learning
paths, so that the student progresses more rapidly. Our modern,
technology-infused facility is set on 127 acres of agriculture and
farmland where students learn in a natural environment full of
sensory experiences. After a few years of operation, Shrub Oak will
have close to 600 staff and 390 students.The Psychiatric Nurse
Practitioner plays a critical role to support the holistic
well-being, care, and treatment of our students working in
collaboration with our Director of Clinical Services, Director of
Health and Wellness, Director of Education, and Director of Campus
Life; and reporting to the Director for Clinical Services. Having
access to confidential information, discretion and independent
judgement is required.Essential Functions - Primary duties of the
position
Prescribe, direct, or administer
psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental,
emotional, and/or or behavioral disordersGather and maintain
patient information and records, including social or medical
history obtained from the student, family members and/or other
professionals Design, implement, oversee and manage individualized
care plans, using a variety of treatmentsCollaborate with Shrub
Oak's transdisciplinary team, including the Director of Clinical
Services, Director of Health and Wellness, Director of Education,
and Director of Campus Life, as well as other healthcare
professionals as needed and required per Shrub Oak policies and
practices to discuss treatment plans and progress as needed and
requiredAnalyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to
diagnose nature or extent of mental and/or physical
disordersAnalyze qualitative and quantitative data to determine
effectiveness of treatments or therapies and approachesMeet with
students to assess general physical, mental and emotional
condition(s).Advise or inform guardians, relatives, or significant
others of student's conditions or treatment.Remain current of
research, advances and related topics concerning mental, emotional,
or behavioral states or disordersPrepare reports summarizing
patient diagnostic or care activitiesAttend meetings, and serve on
committees to promote, maintain and share learnings and progress in
the field Handle any and all other additional responsibilities as
needed and requiredExperience, Qualifications:
- Must have be a PMHNP (Psychiatric,
Mental Health, Nurse Practitioner) having a graduate degree
(Masters with an APRN i.e. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse -
with certificate) or a doctorate degree in mental health nursing.
Must hold active licenses, and in good standing Min 8 years'
experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in
pediatric/adult psychiatry requiredExperience working with those on
the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilities, strong
preferredExperience handling complex medical, emotional and
psychological situations with a holistic view toward achieving
sustained improvement, well-being and regulation
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain solid
relationships, and work cross-functionally with other disciplines
and other areas of the school; team player with excellent problem
solving, decision making skills and judgement
- Superior interpersonal skills and consultative capabilities
with an ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally
and in writing to a varied client base, professionals, parents and
professional groups
- Professional and executive presence to speak in large and small
groups to represent the school
- Exhibit cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Proactive ability to recognize issues/problems, and select an
appropriate solution from among several, often quickly, given
imminent and often, changing circumstances
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment,
effectively juggling demands and shifting priorities
- Computer proficiency and a working knowledge of Microsoft and
other software, and ability to learn to work with our internal
database management software providerSupervisory Responsibility:
NoWork Environment: This job operates in a campus environment.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to talk or hear, use a phone and
computer. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use
hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
