Connect to a career, where passion & purpose combine…We are looking for EMTs who want to transition their experience and careers in a year round position, supporting our students as a Direct Support Professionals. They provide front line direct care and administrative support for daily operations. The DSP is responsible for guiding and mentoring students, assisting with emergency response procedures, and collaborating with all members of the Shrub Oak staff. As an educator and mentor, the DSP works closely with colleagues to create/maintain an inclusive community and foster specific skill development to meet the individualized needs of Shrub Oak's student population. Having access to confidential information regarding Shrub Oak and its students, discretion and independent judgement is required. The EMT will collaborate with all members of the Shrub Oak staff and build trusting relationships with students and the community, while representing Shrub Oak International School in a respectful, competent manner. Required Skills – Competencies – Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid NYS Driver's License
• Passionate about working with and mentoring students (adolescents and young adults) within area of responsibilities, all to empower their self-determination, self-advocacy and development
• Ability to de-escalate challenging behaviors if needed
• Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or developmental disabilities
• Must be able to think analytically, critically, assessing a variety of information to make judgments on student situations, outcomes, in accordance with Shrub Oak policies, protocol and EMT certificationPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work: Regular full or part time shifts available, for all shifts including Monday-Friday, 2:45 PM-10:30PM, Overnights (all days); Saturdays and Sundays, 7:30 AM-3 PM & 3 PM-11 PMCompetitive Salary and Benefits.
