Job Description:

Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.

Summary:

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is the Nurse Executive for Putnam Hospital. The CNO is a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for the administrative and operational plan for providing clinical care to patients. The CNO collaborates with executive management in fulfilling the hospital's mission to provide quality care by participating in strategic planning, resource allocation and evaluating patient outcomes. The CNO is also accountable for developing working relationships with members of the Medical Staff, Hospital and Nursing Leaders to accomplish goals and objectives.

This position has operational oversight of the following departments: Inpatient Nursing Services, Medical Surgical Nursing, Intensive Care Unit, Behavioral Health, Emergency Services, Respiratory Therapy, Imaging and Radiology Services, Surgical Services, Maternity Services, Wound Care Center, Case Resource and Utilization Management, Rehabilitation Services, Inpatient and Outpatient Cardiac Services, Pharmacy, Digital Health, and the Stroke Program.

Responsibilities:

1.Collaborates with leaders throughout the organization in the development and ongoing review of the hospital's mission, strategic plans, budget, resource allocation, operational plans and policies to ensure seamless integrated patient care systems that promote quality, performance improvement activities and maintaining compliance with regulations and legislation.

2.Establishes professional care plans and practice standards for nursing using evidence-based practices in collaboration with members of the nursing staff and clinical leaders; taking into consideration patient care services, age of patient population, uniform standards of care, available resources and assessed patient care requirements.

3.Evaluates current nursing practices and researches patient care delivery models and practice guidelines to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.

4.Monitors acuity, staffing and productivity reports in collaboration with Vice President Medical Affairs and Clinical Directors.

5.Develops and implements an effective Performance Improvement program for patient care according to the priorities of hospital and/or department, by collaborating with Clinical Directors and Quality team to identify quality outcome measures.

6.Assumes responsibility for effective fiscal management of clinical operations to ensure proper utilization of financial resources by budgeting for the necessary equipment and supplies to ensure safe patient care.

7.Collaborates with clinical leadership and nursing education to determine staffing and skill mix requirements to effectively deliver patient care.

8.Participates in developing and implementing mechanisms for collaboration between nursing staff members, physicians and other clinical practitioners.

9.Represents Putnam Hospital as a standing member of the Nuvance Health CNO Council.

10.Maintain contemporary professional knowledge and education.

11.Models and maintains Nuvance Health values.

12.Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

* Master's degree in Business, Public Health Administration or Nursing.
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience in progressive nursing leadership positions.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

* MS Excel and Presentation skills.

License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:

* New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.

Familiarity and comfort with technology-based operational improvement. Health care management or consulting experience preferred.
* Analytics and Strategy: Expertise in developing and executing data-driven approaches to enhancing business decision-making and improving operational performance (preferably in healthcare). Advanced knowledge of business intelligence best practices, familiarity with fact-based management tools and techniques to drive strategies and a continuous improvement culture.
* Communications: Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to take abstract, complex and/or technical information and break it down for a variety of audiences in a way that is meaningful for them.
* Functional Oversight: Issue identification, gap analysis, ability to prioritize business needs and execute solutions.
* Financial Management: Ability to understand financial reports, develop basic financial models, and identify trends, variances, and opportunities.
