Responsibilities Administers and has overall authority and responsibility for the planning, management and delivery of resident care that is compliant with federal and state regulations and acceptable standards of nursing practice. Job Requirements:

  • Communicates and coordinates with other members of the interdisciplinary team, as well as other contracted services, to provide high quality care and services to the residents.
  • Reviews and analyzes incident and accident reports to ensure corrective actions have been completed; investigations are complete to determine cause and ascertain if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse, neglect or mistreatment.--
  • Develops, reviews, revises policies and procedures to comply with state and federal regulations and professional standards of nursing practice.
  • Consults with Human Resources coordinator re: hiring new staff, accommodation of needs for existing staff, disciplinary action, performance improvement action plans and terminations of employment.
  • Counsels and assists staffing coordinator to maintain staffing patterns at and acceptable level according to the master staffing plan and the census and condition of the resident.
  • Assists in maintaining, accurate personnel credential files, including but not limited to: licensure, certification record of warnings, evaluations, problem solving plans and BLS certification.
  • Conducts nursing council meetings for Nurse Managers to communicate changes within the department and facility, educate and guide managers to assist them with supervisory responsibilities, formulate policies and procedures, facilitate communication with all members of the nursing department.
  • Analyzes quality indicators to identify potential areas for improvement. Coordinates data collection for potential problem areas, analyzes data and plans and implements processes to improve resident care outcomes.
  • Prepares written reports including, but not limited to, quarterly QA reports, annual reports.
  • Prepares operating and capital budgets for nursing administration, monitors, and maintains consistent fiscal control with budgetary parameters.
  • Displays analytical and basic problem solving skills. Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.
  • Follows all time and attendance policies.--
  • Attends educational programs provided by the facility or those which are outside the facility which are related to job responsibilities.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, AAS required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field, preferred.
  • Licensed and registered in NYS as a registered professional nurse.--
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the Nursing Management field.
  • Experience as a professional nurse in which evidence of leadership, creativity, integrity, initiative and communication skills have been demonstrated.
