CTG's Fortune 100 client in Yorktown Heights, NY has a contract opening for a Network Engineer.

Location: Yorktown Heights, NY

Duration: Long term

Pay Rate: Up to $50/hr.

Role:

The Network Engineer will build, maintain and manage daily network and network security operations, and assist with deployment of next generation technology systems and services.

Job Duties:

  • Network engineering & management of complex TCP/IP based local area, wide area and Cloud network infrastructure in a heterogenous multi-vendor environment, with a heavy emphasis on Cisco Systems Palo Alto Networks, Vyatta and Infoblox:
    • Maintain, manage, and assure continued optimized and robust daily network operations for WW network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, WAN/Internet connections, VPN, Cloud network connections and operations)
    • Perform System and firmware upgrades and patch management; maintain software and hardware currency levels.
    • Monitor, troubleshoot, mitigate and resolve network infrastructure problems and service interruptions.
    • Assist with Planning, Configuration & Deployment of network upgrades/builds, new deployments, including proof-of-concept and next generation installations in on premise and cloud base environments.
    • On all systems maintain a strong security posture, currency levels and compliance according to Security standards and requirements.
    • Deploy, maintain and manage Next Generation security platforms (Firewall/IPS) and network security compartments.
    • Plan, assist and deploy physical cabling installations throughout a campus and data center environments.
    • Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with partners, stakeholder, vendors and WW network team.
    • Assist with populating, maintaining and managing network management and authentication services platforms (Cisco PRIME, ISE)
    • Master and utilize various vendor network utilities
    • IP address and subnet management
    • Create and provide recurring network reports based on network statistics and analytics
    • Network Change, Configuration and Performance Management
    • Iteratively improving existing systems and infrastructure to better meet the needs of the Network Operations and Network Engineering organizations and our customers
    • Automate processes and workflows to increase the operational agility of the Network Operations and Network Engineering organizations
      • Analyze data from tools to determine areas of improvement, determine and implement the necessary changes
      • Help drive engineering and operational excellence and adhere to industry best practices.
      • Ability to adapt to the new software-driven technology with experience on software defined networks
      • Drives IT capability improvements through optimization, enhancements and implementation of new features and functions; Improves and Enhances Existing Environments
      • Collects data, then supplies it to engineering peer teams for analysis and data-driven recommendations and decision making Required Professional Experience and Education:
        • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science or related program
        • 3-5 years of experience in a TCP/IP based Network Engineer/Architecture position with an enterprise-level network or service provider and the following:
          • Skilled Implementing Cisco based network infrastructure and services (switches, routers, firewalls/IPS, VPN's, IPSEC, SSL, IKev2)
          • Skilled in Network Security operations, including configuration and deployment of Cisco and Palo Alto based firewall and ips (Cisco ASA, Cisco NextGen Firepower, Palo Alto NextGen)
          • Experience with network routing protocols, BGP, OSPF, MLPS
          • Experience with Unix/Linux administration and with scripting/coding.
          • Network Automation skills focus on Cisco technology (RestAPI, Ansible, JSON, Jenkins)
          • Programming skills with a focus on Python, Golang
          • This position reports to the WW Network Engineering Infrastructure Manager. Desired Skills:
            • Network certifications (Network CCIE will be a plus) or equivalent practical experience
            • 5-7 years of experience in a TCP/IP based Network Engineer/Architecture position with an enterprise-level network or service provider will be a plus
            • 2-3 years experience working with Vyatta Network Devices
            • 2-3 years experience working with Infoblox Appliances
            • 2-3 years experience working with Cisco based network service and authentication platforms (PRIME, ISE).
            • Experience using Ansible
            • Experience successfully collaborating across a diverse group of world wide, remote teams
