This is where Chapter Next can be part of your solution. Chapter Next is a 12-16 week paid returnship hosted by RMS. Candidates who have taken a professional career hiatus for at least 2+ years will be eligible to apply to this program. Selected candidates will be exposed to comprehensive training, professional development opportunities, networking opportunities, and individual based mentoringOur goal is to provide the fundamental tools needed to be successful in your career field, and to potentially prepare you for an opportunity to join Lockheed Martin full-time. Fields of focus will be diverse across the program and include functional and technical opportunities.This returnship position is for a Computer Engineer and will be located in either Rochester, NY or Stratford, CT. The Computer Engineer will be responsible for developing embedded applications to support Diagnostic, Prognostic and Health Management (DPHM) solutions. critical data from complex systems during operation.Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the selected individual will contribute to the DPHM organization by contributing to the design, development, test, maintenance and improvement of embedded software. The successful candidate will work closely with and support Computer Engineers, Software Engineers and Engineering subject matter experts to design and implement embedded applications that capture and processBasic Qualifications: B.S. in Computer Engineering or similar technical field Experience designing, developing, testing, maintaining and improving software Embedded systems development with an emphasis on low level technologies including *nix, C, C++ Familiarity with automation via scripting with python, bash, perl, etc. Network programming / TCP stack familiarity Development experience using tools such as Eclipse, Valgrind, profilers, WiresharkDesired Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to clearly explain the trade-offs between possible software solutions Extremely good problem solving and organizational skills Experience with XML and associated toolsets Familiarity with common embedded frameworks / libraries such as Boost & POCO Passion and ability to learning new languages and technologiesBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:job.QualificationsLockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
