Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste management in the Northeastern U.S., is seeking a skilled B Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of waste collection and handling equipment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our operations. A B Mechanic at our company will handle routine maintenance checks, respond to breakdowns, and uphold the integrity of our machinery through diligent care and technical skill. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on waste collection and transfer vehicles. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electric systems. Adhere to safety protocols and company standards at all times. Collaborate with the management team to maintain parts inventory and manage repair timeframes. Conduct diagnostics tests to identify wear and tear and needs for replacement. Assist in preparing vehicles for DOT compliance and inspections. Strong mechanical aptitude Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems Ability to read and understand technical documents and diagrams Familiarity with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines Preferably holds a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment mechanics a plus
