POSITION SUMMARYThe Email Marketing Specialist is responsible for providing support for e-communication needs for The Culinary Institute of America across all businesses, including food enthusiasts classes, restaurant patrons, Copia customer communications, industry leadership conference attendees, and more. This includes program development support (developing digital media to support marketing program strategies); program execution support (e-mail marketing campaigns); and email list management. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in designing for email and will have the ability to code emails in HTML and in-line CSS styles, as well as leverage modern template-based email systems.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop HTML-based, responsive and mobile-friendly e-mails and template designs according to customer specifications, creative concepts, and best practices.Operate directly in the email service provider (ESP) platform including targeting, campaign building, QA, and scheduling.Create appealing email graphics using digital images provided by CIA Creative Services using Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Fireworks as needed. Optimizing individual graphics to build campaigns.Ensure that all e-communications and graphical elements follow the CIA Style Guide recommendations for maintaining the CIA brand identity as well as maintaining email best practices.Perform quality assurance testing. Testing rendering across multiple email clients and ISPs (Outlook, Google, Hotmail, etc.).Schedule and distribute emails according to plans established by the Email Marketing Manager.Maintain of email lists in ESP.Monitor email inbox(es) daily and respond accordingly to inquiries.Execute a functional requirements document as part of an email project plan.Implement automated email campaigns as prescribed by the Email Marketing Manager.Assist in the implementation of an overall CRM to connect business units and leveraging the ESP's ability to integrate with other marketing tools.Perform A/B testing to increase email performance and ROI.Any and all other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology or Graphic Arts or related field.Experience:Minimum of one (1) year proven experience in successful creation and management of email campaigns.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSProficiency in WordPress, JavaScript and Adobe Fireworks.Higher Education marketing experience preferred.Interest and exposure to a breadth of e-mail and web marketing applications.Corporate experience in a multi-unit environment.Client Services experience helpful.CRM experience helpful.REQUIRED SKILLSProficiency in the following software applications:Adobe DreamweaverAdobe PhotoshopProficiency in working with an email service provider and knowledge of various email platforms (such as MyEmma).Strong computer experience, which must include abilities to work effectively with MS Office Suite.Coding proficiency in HMTL and CSS (Cascading Stylesheets).Experience in successfully working in multi-functional teams.Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.Excellent written, verbal communication skills.Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.Detail oriented and thorough.Exceptional organizational skills.WORKING CONDITIONS Must be available to work overtime on nights and weekends as required by business needs.Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION At The Culinary Institute of America, it is important to us that we support our employees with a substantial and meaningful package of benefits.
