Job Description:
Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and
outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital,
Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern
Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers
Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty
care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a
leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices.
Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the
Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and
the Home Care organizations.
Summary
Assumes responsibility, under the direction of the Sleep Center
Coordinator, who reports to the Manager of Business Development and
HQ Sleep Services, for the coordination of all clerical and
scheduling activities in the Sleep Center.
Responsibility
Provides a smooth workflow thru department for Sleep Center
Coordinator and Manager for Business Development and HQ Sleep
Services
1.Proof-reads all typed correspondence, revising and changing as
necessary to ensure accuracy, prior to submittal or
distribution.
2.Retrieves, opens, scans and sorts all mail as received and routes
to appropriate staff. Maintains confidential nature of so specified
mail.
3.Answers and triages phone calls. Schedules appointments giving
proper preparation for each study. Answers patient questions in a
courteous, helpful manner.
4.Fax Sleep Study results to referring physicians within a timely
manner, and creates all paperwork in regards to follow up
appointments and further treatment.
5.Monitors Sleep Center voice mail, and returns all phone calls to
patients, Drs. Offices, and Home Health companies within the same
business day.
6.File all completed charts and paperwork correctly.
7.Maintains continuing knowledge of all department procedures so
that the scheduling and coordination of tests performed within the
department are accomplished in an efficient manner.
8.Accurately registers and discharges patients through the CERNER
and 3rd party's system. Prepare Patients charts: includes gathering
accurate and complete demographic/financial information, RX, Dr.
notes, copies of previous Sleep Studies, and all other medical
documentation (Including directions to the Lab, patient
questionnaires, technician forms and HIPPA Privacy Packets).
9.Pre-register patients and creates and mails confirmation packets
prior to study date.
10.Accepts additional/unusual assignments as requested by the
Executive of Business Development and Sleep Services, ensuring
quality patient care and timely delivery of services as observed by
supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Requires high school or equivalent; general knowledge of
high school subject matter possibly including sciences. One year of
college or specialized post-high school training in medical
terminology and medical office procedures preferred.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one year of clerical experience
with knowledge of processes, procedures and different modalities.
Experience with Microsoft Word /Excel applications preferred.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FACTORS
Physical: Requires light physical effort on a regular basis, as in
frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping or reaching and/or
occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 20 lbs.). Periodic
eye or ear strain included in this level (less than 50% of the
time).
Mental: Some irregularity in scheduled hours because of compensated
overtime requirements. Work location imposes occasional unwelcome
interruptions.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional exposure to communicable disease; otherwise physical
surroundings are pleasant and comfortable.
